Summer Residency with Emma Smith

A rare opportunity to spend two days working with this internationally renowned socially-engaged artist: Thursday 23 –Friday 24 July 2020

What to expect

A two day residency on Thursday 23 –Friday 24 July 2020, with an in depth exploration of Emma Smith’s practice including wide ranging themes, ideas and ways of working including:

  • Exploring the practice of Ars Combinatoria and the bringing together of diverse fields of knowledge.
  • Mini sessions to workshop research as practice, working in collaboration, and collective problem solving.
  • Participants will also have the opportunity to bring with them any questions they are trying to work through either on a current or future work they are making / would like to make, utilising the expanded knowledge of the group to help each other.

 

What You Will Leave With

You will leave with ideas for making work drawing on multiple themes, knowledge of models for working collaboratively and through research, and reflection and new routes forward on current and future work.

Thinking space and reflection on the terms by which you make work; both how you invite others into your practice and how your practice is invited to be commissioned

 

Who it is for

For any artist with questions they want to work through using a combination of thinking space and collaborative working.

 

The Facilitator

Emma Smith is a visual artist based in the UK and works internationally. She has a social practice and creates public platforms for experimentation, research and action through site-specific events and installations. www.emma-smith.com
