University of Exeter Professional Pathways programmes are taking place from June 2022, offering you the opportunity to work with motivated University of Exeter students keen to start their careers in their chosen sector. They are running the following programmes relevant to the sector:

For those who are unfamiliar with Professional Pathways, below is an outline of the structure for the programme this year and you can also find further information on their webpages here.

Employer-led training: Monday 20 – Thursday 23 June 2022
This year, they are converting the training back to an in-person format, with students undertaking sector-specific training, delivered on campus by industry professionals and organised by the Professional Pathways Team.

35 hour internship: To take place before 8 July 2022
Following completion of the training, each student will undertake a 35 hour internship with an employer in the sector. This can take place anytime between 27 June – 8 July 2022 and as usual, this will be funded by the University of Exeter, with students receiving their salary through the university’s payroll. They have funding available for 25 internships on each Pathway programme (20 on our International Trade programme).

Recruiting a University of Exeter student:
University of Exeter, are now seeking employers based in the South West or those further afield who could perhaps provide a remote-working opportunity and who can offer a challenging 35 hour internship for a student to undertake in June 2022.

The internship and tasks/projects associated with the role, must relate to one of the four Pathway sectors listed above, use undergraduate level skills and aid students’ career development.

If you are able to host a student and provide an internship opportunity, please complete the short vacancy form for the relevant Pathway programme linked below:

Please note, the University of Exeter are looking to work on a first come, first served basis with allocating funding for the 25 internships on each programme, so would recommend submitting your internship opportunities as soon as possible. The University of Exeter, will be closing for vacancies no later than 31st March 2022 or when they have reached the maximum internship vacancies they are able to fund.

How does the process work?
Student applications for the programme have now closed and the University of Exeter, have shortlisted 190 students to take part in an assessment centre during March. Following this, the available internship opportunities for each Pathway programme will be shared with the successful students. They then undertake a matching process to match the students to an internship, based on their chosen preferences. You will therefore not be required to undertake any recruitment and we would aim to confirm your matched student by the end of May 2022.

If you have any questions about the programme, please get in touch at professionalpathways[at]exeter.ac.uk.
