Recovery and wellbeing in the community

Do you look after or help support a family member, partner or friend because of their illness, disability or emotional distress? Are you feeling stressed, depressed or anxious about this?

Many people have taken on extra care and support for a loved one since the coronavirus pandemic began. Local surveys have found that many in this situation have struggled with their own mental health – feeling isolated, frustrated, sad, worried, bored, trapped and fearful about the future.

This project is offering a dedicated online space where those who are looking after or supporting someone else can find support themselves with their own mental health and wellbeing.

By joining this project, you’ll be able to access free online creative and wellbeing courses delivered by The Good Mental Health Cooperative network of tutors.

There’s peer support available through the online community chat and you’ll also find a range of useful information and wellbeing resources.

If there are times when you need some individual support,  Solent Connexions project worker can phone or zoom call you personally on a regular basis. And if you’re really feeling at the ‘end of your tether’, Solent Connexions can offer more specialist one to one sessions with a professional healthcare or social work practitioner.

Sometimes you’ll need to know where is the best place to go for advice for a specific issue, and the project worker can help signpost you and offer support in accessing the right advice when you need it.
