Bristol Recovery Orchestra rehearsals
The orchestra is open to anyone who’s been affected by alcohol or other drug use, and has a willingness to play an instrument. There is no musical experience necessary!
Most musicians and music lovers will know someone in the industry who’s struggled with alcohol or drugs at one point or another. This project provides a space for people to learn about music and to perform in a safe and supportive environment with people who’ve had similar experiences.
What impact is it having?
The feedback from members so far has been incredible, and life changing. People have picked up instruments they haven’t played for years, played with other musicians for the very first time, and re/discovered a relationship with music:
“We celebrate our own imperfections. It’s part of something bigger than our selves and that’s what makes it powerful and beautiful. There’s the development, there’s the sobriety and growth. That is so beautiful. We’ve got an orchestra as part of a creative recovery – we’re in business guys, we’re in business love love love!”
