Alex Coulter

Alex Coulter

Alex has been Director of Art & Health South West since 2010. Before that she managed the Arts in Hospital project at Dorset County Hospital for 13 years and worked as a free lance arts and health consultant in the acute and primary care sectors. And before that she was an artist! As part of her role with AHSW she represents the region on the National Alliance for Arts, Health and Wellbeing and provides the scretariat for the All Party Parliamentary Group on Arts, Health and Wellbeing. She studied Art History at the Courtauld Institute, Fine Art at Chelsea School of Art and for an MSc in Management Development at Bristol University. She lives in Oxford with her husband, the writer Gijs van Hensbergen, and has three children.


Hannah Mumby

Hannah Mumby

Hannah has been Coordinator at Arts & Health South West since November 2015. She also has her own freelance Illustration practice. Before joining AHSW, Hannah managed a theatre-going project for adults with Learning Disabilities in Exeter, ran arts access training sessions for theatres as part of Include Arts, worked as a project manager for Exeter arts-for-health charity Magic Carpet, and spent 3 years on the 'Crew' at BALTIC Centre for Contempory Art. Hannah studied History of Art & English Literature at The University of York and currently lives with her partner in Exeter. 


Sarah Holmes

Catherine West

Catherine is our Art and Social Change Project Researcher and Catalyst Project Officer. Catherine is the founder of Significant Seams CIC, a social enterprise that uses textiles and craft to build community and support people in vulnerable life moments. She is also a practicing artist and a Fellow of the RSA as a well as the School for Social Entrepreneurs. She holds a PgC Voluntray Sector Management from the Centre for Charity Effectiveness at Cass Business School, City University London, and a BA (H) from Sweet Briar College in Virginia, USA. She has contributed a chapter in the book, Craftivism: the art and craft of activism. At other points in her creative career, West has worked for two higher education institutions, two international arts festivals, and a major marketing agency.
