New resources available for creative sessions with groups

South Gloucestershire Libraries is delighted to announce a new resource, An Adventurer’s Companion, is now available, particularly aimed at those supporting participants with low mood, depression or dementia.

South Gloucestershire Libraries is delighted to announce a new resource, An Adventurer’s Companion, is now available through its library network and online at www.creativelibraries.org.uk.

An Adventurer’s Companion is designed to inspire anyone working with a group to help them explore their creativity in new and surprising ways and is particularly aimed at those supporting participants with low mood, depression or dementia.

The resources mark the culmination of a three-year Arts Council England funded arts project in South Gloucestershire Libraries to work creatively to improve wellbeing, reduce isolation and investigate how the arts can be used to explore library spaces in new ways. The project was open to anyone experiencing mental health difficulties, including people living with dementia and their families and carers.

I haven’t felt so energised and creative in years.” said one participant

The Adventurer's Companion is presented as a travelling companion - a bespoke suitcase of exercises, resources, ideas and inspiration drawn from the project developed by artist, Liz Clarke.  It is accompanied by a website www.creativelibraries.org.uk where you can recreate the activities yourself and embark on your own journeys and adventures. The Adventurer’s Companion is available for loan from all South Gloucestershire libraries and the website is accessible to anyone.
