Lonely Not Alone Campaign

Created by young people for young people, exploring the many challenges of loneliness.

Effervescent is launching year two of  their Lonely Not Alone campaign.

Since lockdown, even more young people are lonely. In fact, 7 in 10 young people are lonely at least occasionally but less than a quarter think society treats the problem seriously. So Effervescent are even more committed to making Lonely Not Alone a success this year, and they hope you may be able to get involved too.

Supporting Lonely Not Alone

Lonely Not Alone is a campaign created by young people for young people to help them talk a bit more openly about loneliness. It might surprise you to know that young people are lonely more often than any other age group. So this year, they wanted to show them that they might be lonely, but they’re not alone. Their ask is really simple: wear yellow socks and share your Outfit of the Day on social media to show you care. The Outfit of the Day can be whatever you like, from high fashion to your favourite sports kit! They just ask that it features yellow socks, as it’s their symbol of solidarity, and is appropriate for children.

Please share your fabulous Outfit of the Day from Wednesday 7th October onwards, and show it off by tagging @LonelyNotAlone and using #OOTDYellowSocks. No socks? No problem! Lonely Arts Club is for you… Create your Outfit of the Day image however you like! Draw it, paint it, carve it out of a potato… anything goes. Just don’t forget to share it with #OOTDYellowSocks and tag them at @LonelyNotAlone. You can even post their yellow sock stickers on your next Instagram or Facebook story.
