Arts Well: Grow – Online programme Autumn 2020
The transition of Arts Well’s workshops online has proved so successful that they’re continuing, with a new programme of Autumn Events.
Arts Well has moved their Arts Well: Grow programme of professional development workshops online during lockdown. This proved very popular, meaning they could reach more people further afield – having participants from Australia, Canada and the Netherlands as well as from all over the UK which provided great opportunities to share experiences and practice. The workshops were adapted for the new online context but with numbers limited, they were still interactive, with time for discussions and questions throughout.
They have decided to continue with the online format, though they also plan to introduce some face to face workshops to complement these later in the year. Their next series of 7 workshops begins in October and includes sessions on writing fundings bids and applications, outcomes and evaluation, social prescribing, mental health and a new one on the evidence base for creativity, health and wellbeing.
Their workshop programme is open for bookings. You will need to be able to use Zoom for the session – if you haven’t used it before, please contact jayne(at)arts-well.com when you have booked and she can arrange for a 10 minute briefing before the start of the workshop.
All workshops will run with a minimum of 6 participants and a maximum of 16, allowing for plenty of discussion with the emphasis on enabling you to put your learning into practice. Slides and other resources will be sent to participants following the event.

Tuesday 6th October 2020, 2.00 p.m. – 4.30 p.m.
As well as exploring the benefits of creativity for mental wellbeing, this session includes mental health awareness, maintaining healthy boundaries, and safe and ethical practice. We will consider how to bring the Five Ways to Wellbeing into creative workshops and also the challenges of delivering during this current pandemic.
Wednesday 14th October 2020, 10.00 a.m. – 12.30 p.m.
This workshop will look at different types of funding, show you how to research and select the right funder for your project, structure your funding bid and become more confident and skilled in writing your bid to make you and your project stand out.
Thursday 22nd October 2020, 2.00 p.m. – 4.30 p.m.
Many practitioners involved in delivering creative activities for others forget to find the time and techniques to look after themselves and ensure that their own health and wellbeing are supported, especially during this pandemic. This workshop will introduce approaches to self-care and provide you with tools so that you can continue to support yourself and others effectively.
Tuesday 27th October 2020, 2.00 p.m. – 4.30 p.m.
This workshop focuses on the importance of evaluating your activities or project – why and what you should evaluate, different approaches and popular and appropriate evaluation tools. An essential session for anyone running arts and health activities.
Tuesday 3rd November 2020, 10.00 a.m. – 12.30 p.m.
This session provides an opportunity for you to find out more about social prescribing models and the contribution your creative practice could make. You will explore the various considerations involved and discuss how to present your proposals.
Wednesday 11th November, 10.00 a.m. – 12.30 p.m.
This workshop will introduce you to key sources of evidence for the impact of arts, culture and creativity on health and wellbeing and give you an opportunity to discuss how to keep your knowledge up to date.
Tuesday 17th November, 2.00 p.m. – 4.30 p.m.
This workshop explores the benefits of creativity for people living with dementia. You will have a brief introduction to dementia awareness, learn how to tailor your practice so it is accessible and engaging, and get advice about working in specific settings.
Recognising the very different circumstances that people are facing, especially as a consequence of this pandemic, the workshops are available at 3 different price points – £25 is the standard price; £15 concessionary or a donation for those who would otherwise not be able to attend. Please pay the appropriate price for your circumstances, acknowledging that Arts Well is a small not-for-profit organisation that relies on this trading income to deliver its activities.
