Margaret Flannery is a graduate of National University of Ireland, Galway and has worked in the management and development of Arts and Health programmes for thirteen years. As Arts Director for Galway University Hospitals Arts Trust, she has established a strong portfolio of partnership programmes with local and national organisations. Since 2004, with CĂșirt International Festival of Literature, she has developed Poems for Patience, an annual anthology of poetry by Irish and international poets and was lead partner in developing this into Menu of Poems since 2015 for hospitals throughout Ireland as part of National Poetry Day. She currently guest lectures on the MA in Arts Policy and Practice in NUI, Galway, is a member of the editorial panel for www.artsandhealth.ie and board member of Tulca Festival of Visual Art. Previously, she was Project Manager of the Galway county-wide Burning Bright programme for nursing homes and community day centres, and has worked for Galway Arts Centre and Galway County Council. She was chairperson of Arts and Health Co-ordinators Ireland (January 2011 to December 2013).
