Ways with Willow CIC creatively work with both dried and living willow to promote the personal development and employability of individuals who may not otherwise have access to such opportunities; drawing on personal experience to encourage social inclusion, improved confidence, social skills and physical and emotional well-being.

Ways with Willow CIC was founded by Sian Hill in 2012, to provide creative opportunities for disadvantaged and vulnerable people throughout Cornwall. Sian realised the health benefits of working with willow after fleeing an abusive relationship, and she wanted to provide opportunities to help improve the lives of others.

Before the demise of traditional crafts and funding cuts within education and adult social care, there were many opportunities available within the community to work with willow. Willow is a tactile and versatile material, and working with it is relaxing, therapeutic and very rewarding. Seeing people benefit from working with willow is heart warming, and the feedback received from participants has been very endearing.

Not only are we passionate about providing accessible opportunities throughout the community, but also encouraging connectivity with the natural environment; the preservation and revival of traditional crafts; and promoting the use of willow as a sustainable material.
