AHSW welcomes Shannon Humphries as part of the Kickstart Scheme

We are delighted to welcome Shannon Humphries to the Arts and Health South West team. Shannon has come through the government’s Kickstart Scheme and is helping us as an Administration Assistant.

I have been working with AHSW for 3 months now and it has been the most refreshing work experience I have ever had. This is the first working environment I have ever been in that is truly making a difference and generally cares about the impact they have.

I have a huge passion for supporting self-improvement and find this is something that comes very naturally to me. Therefore, being involved with the new Reach In Reach Out (RIRO) project, which is encouraging and supporting young adults to connect back to themselves to find their passion, to set them up for a healthier work environment, is truly an honour and I am very excited to be on this journey from the beginning. Stepping outside my comfort zone and challenging myself is something I find the most healing to me. Due to not coming from the healthiest environments and leaving school very early, I can honestly understand the pressures of life.

Over the past 5 years I have been on a self-love healing journey and through this I have really begun to understand the importance of mental health. Therefore, I feel blessed to be a part of all the work AHSW do, from being involved with the Creative Joy event, to supporting practitioners who have been working extremely hard throughout the pandemic, to helping with administration and management of exciting new projects.

Life is a beautiful opportunity to grow, evolve, and connect. At the end of the day, we are all here, feeling the same emotions yet experiencing our own journeys! AHSW has given me the opportunity to spread more love and healing whilst learning so much; an opportunity I am truly grateful and excited about!
