New Government appointments
Jeremy Hunt has been appointed Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport (to continue to be abbreviated to DCMS). He was formerly Shadow Culture Secretary (2007-2010) and Shadow Minister for Disabled People (2005 -2007).
The Guardian, on Wednesday 19 May, reported how ‘The new culture secretary has promised the arts unqualified love, more lottery money and a major drive to increase philanthropic giving’ - but he admitted that spending cuts are almost inevitable.

Ed Vaizey has been appointed new Minister for Culture. He served as Shadow Culture and Creative Industries Minister from 2006 -2010.
Nick Hurd will be the minister responsible for charities, social enterprises and voluntary organisations in the Cabinet Office. He will be known as the Minister for Civil Society. He has announced that Government policy will focus on fundamental development issues.
