Photography competition- win 25 per winning photograph!

The Arts Service and Adult Social Care Team at Dorset County Council are seeking 20 photographs to exhibit in the Social Care Teams directorate corridor in Dorset County Hall.  We would like a range of photographs that show adults who access Social Care services (Learning Disability, Physical disability, Mental Health, Older People, Carers) in Dorset taking part in the arts (any artform).

We are seeking a wide range of photographs, accompanied by a short sentence of what the picture shows/ a quote from a participant/ an achievement of the group, to bring the corridor to life and show everyone who walks down the corridor the range of exciting work that is taking place across Dorset.
Each selected photograph will receive 25 for the organisation or artist that ran the workshops, to help promote more work in the sector.

To enter a photograph please do the following:

  • Send a copy of the photograph electronically (please do one at a time to avoid it being held up
  • Along with a short sentence (less than 30 words) which puts the photograph in context e.g. what the picture shows/ a quote from a participant/ an achievement of the group.
  • The name of the artist/ organisation that ran the workshops and the community group that took part
  • Confirm that all those in the photographs have given consent for the picture to be put up in the corridor.
  • Confirm whether or not those in the photographs consent to the photographs being used for publicity (this is not a requirement but in case local or council media want to publicise)
  • State the month and year the workshop took place (ideally in the last 12 months)
  • State the venue the workshop took place.

You can send as many or as few photographs as you wish.  Each successful photograph will be chosen by The Arts Service and Adult Social Care Team together.

In return you will get:

  • Good publicity for you/ your organisation and your work
  • Exposure in the adult social care teams, where there are a large number of potential commissioners
  • An invitation to a celebratory event for you to bring along participants who took part in the workshops to see the photographs (we will be inviting the mayor and various heads of service to show off the work).
  • 25 per photographs to put towards the development of your work/ service or to run more workshops.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: Wednesday 23rd June.

The Adult Social Care team are expecting to receive a large number of visitors during July and August so would ideally like the exhibition to be up by then.
