This year we focus on the patient and welcome speakers, Heather Eardley, Director of National Projects at the Patient Association, and Martine Price, Head of Patient Experience at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton.

- Experience workshops led by patients and service users and find out how they are helping lead the way in arts and health.
- Find out about applying for the Arts & Health South West Awards 2013. Following the success of the first annual AHSW Awards we are pleased to announce the dates and criteria for this years awards, which will once again be supported by the Fine Family Foundation.
Heather Eardley is Director of National Projects at the Patients Association. The Patients Association captures stories about healthcare from thousands of patients, family members and carers every year. They use this knowledge to campaign for improvements to health and social care services . Heather sees her role as Director of National Projects as a great opportunity to influence some of the changes needed and says that the unique role of the Patients Association gives them the opportunity to really focus on what patients and carers are saying.
Martine Price, as Head of Patient Experience at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton has the latest information about how health policy is responding to the increasing focus on patient experience and opinion.
Workshops will include:
- Philosopher, Dr Havi Carel, is developing a tool for patients that is based on her own experience of receiving a diagnosis of a rare lung disease. She will be joined by artist Catherine Lamont-Robinson, Dr Louise Younie and patients who are helping shape the development of the tool.
- Creativity Works - A workshop led by participants who have worked together to sustain their own art group.
- Light Box - The Happiness Project promoting positive mental health through art and creative expression.
- Sue Ashby (The Dorset Writers Network) - How to use dialogue to explore the link between body and mind: this experiential workshop will give participants the opportunity to use writing exercises to explore how unexpressed thoughts and feelings can affect our health. There will be time to both write and discuss the process.
- Phil Shepherd from Somerset Film and Biggerhouse Productions and the work of JUMPcuts: digital media co-produced by people with learning disabilities
